Voters:
I want to make sure you have all the information necessary going into the general election. To reach this goal, I have uploaded the surveys that Dan Kennedy has personally filled out for various political groups such as Western Tradition Partnership, Assembly Action Fund, Montana Conservative Alliance, and the Montana Family Foundation. You can decide for yourself if you agree or disagree with him. Nothing has been changed and many of them were included in attack mailings that you received in June. You can click on each to see the full survey but I have pulled out a few gems.
Just to be clear, I did not fill out these surveys because I had been warned about these groups from other Republicans and have heard the stories about how they use these surveys against you if you don’t believe 100% of what they are advocating. These groups have a history of bullying candidates for office and blatantly breaking Montana’s campaign laws because they know that any complaint against them will take years to resolve. Many good Montana Republicans legislators have been viciously attacked by these groups.
These groups attacked me with outright lies, innuendos and half-truths for one reason: I didn’t fill out their survey. I would encourage you after reading these documents to call me and ask me what I believe on these issues instead of relying on organizations that obviously have an ulterior motive and agenda. Most of these groups are backed by east coast funders who are interested in swaying Montana politics. I don’t have anything to prove to these people, just the voters. Know that I am a strong defender of gun rights, our Western hunting and fishing heritage and the responsible and necessary development of our natural resources. Do not let these groups fool you into believing otherwise.
First, there is the survey from Montana Family Foundation. The most salient thing to me was that Dan Kennedy said he STRONGLY believes that, “Abortion should be prohibited in ALL circumstances.” You can see for yourself at the bottom of page one. One can only conclude that he does not believe the life of the mother should be saved in any situation. Montana Family Foundation Survey
I have also uploaded the survey that Montana Conservative Alliance sent out to candidates. You can see it here: Montana Conservative Alliance Survey. Although I do not have the exact copy of the survey that Dan Kennedy filled out, I do know that he received a 96% from Roger Koopman, one of the highest scores out of any candidate that filled out the survey. As you look through the questions, you will see that this group’s ideas of a good legislator are scary and extremist and Dan Kennedy scored higher than many other extremely conservative Montana candidates.
However, there are some discrepancies in this that you may be interested in. When Dan Kennedy took the survey the first time, he scored only 15%, one of the lowest out of anyone that filled it out. You can see this score from Roger Koopman himself here: Montana Conservative Alliance First Analysis of Kennedy – 15% . The email that Koopman sent out with this analysis is also attached. Koopman states,
“ OpenHouse seat HD 57 has two filed GOP candidates, but apparently no conservatives. Bonogofsky, we’re told, is a ”pro-choice” liberal; Kennedy had the lowest questionnaire score of any candidate responding (15%.)”
So, in Kennedy’s first round of answering the questions, he scores a 15%. However, he was apparently allowed to retake the survey with help from a more “conservative” person and he amazingly ends up with a 96%. Now, I am not privy to what happened behind closed doors but I do know one thing. Either Dan Kennedy was lying the first time he took the survey or the second. I’ll let you make your own decision.
Here are a couple other surveys that he filled out just for your own information. What I am hoping you will do is to call or email me if you have a question about where I stand on these issues. DO NOT take the word of these groups. Their only goal is to deceive you, scare you and control the Montana Legislature by controlling candidates.
